Mike Vitar was born as Michael Anthony Vitar on December 21, 1978, in Los Angeles, California to Pablo and Aurora Vitar. He was raised alongside his older siblings; Pablo and Elizabeth in Los Angeles. His brother was an actor as well. He appeared in the movie The Sandlot as Older Benny. His brother passed away on January 29, 2008, in Los Angeles. He was educated in an all-boys Catholic school, St. Francis High School in L.A Canada.

He began his career when he was 12 years old after a casting director who was talent-hunting came upon him. The casting director noticed Mike Vitar while he was waiting in line for a ride at his school’s funfair. He made his acting debut in Peter Maris’ action thriller “Diplomatic Immunity” in 1991 as Arturo. 

He also made his acting debut on television, playing Anthony Gambuzza in the “Boys of Summer” episode of the CBS family drama “Brooklyn Bridge,” which is about a Jewish American family living in Brooklyn in the 1950s. Alongside Peter Weller, he also appeared in the neo-noir mystery movie “Sunset Grill” from 1993.

Then came “The Sandlot” (1993). Leading a cast of largely young performers, Vitar played the nice, kind, and gifted Benjamin Franklin “Benny the Jet” Rodriguez. He performed an exciting role in the sports comedy-drama D2: The Mighty Ducks in 1994 and later appeared in D3: The Mighty Ducks in 1996.
